The logistics of providing health care in the rural and remote communities of the Chugach Region presents numerous challenges. Yet Chugachmiut has grown to be a major healthcare provider in Alaska with a sophisticated network of providers and services to help ensure the people of the region will be as health and happy as possible.

The health service team provides and/or coordinates a full spectrum of outpatient primary health care services for community members that include:

• Preventive care
• Health promotion and education
• Acute and chronic disease treatment
• Same day appointments
• Minor surgery
• On-site point of care lab testing
• On-site medication formulary
• Dental services
• Maternity care
• Pediatrics
• Telehealth specialty care
• Behavioral health services
• Social services
• Referrals for specialty care services
• Additional support services

Specific health education and wellness programs offered include diabetes care and prevention, injury prevention, tobacco prevention, weight management and exercise, and substance abuse prevention and treatment.
