HEALTH COACH
After consulting with the patients to determine their specific needs, the health coach provides wellness goals that are tailored to each client.

CANCER PREVENTION & SUPPORT

Alaska Native men and women face a higher risk of cancer diagnosis in their lifetime. However, the good news is that early detection and prevention are powerful tools against breast, cervical, and colorectal cancer. Regular screenings, immunizations, and understanding your family history are the first steps towards a healthier future. Screening is not just about finding problems – it’s about preventing them. Embracing preventive care is a positive and proactive choice for your well-being. By getting recommended screenings, you empower yourself to detect and address health concerns early, increasing the likelihood of successful treatment.

DIABETES CARE & PREVENTION
The Diabetes Prevention Program is designed to educate communities in the prevention and treatment of diabetes, promote village infrastructure for encouraging healthy lifestyles, track patients and those at risk of developing diabetes, and to prevent complications from the disease.

MATERNAL / CHILD BIRTH
Maternal/Child Health provides prenatal tracking, risk assessment, education, counseling, and consultation through regular visits within the entire Anchorage Service Unit.

WEIGHT & NUTRITION

SUBSTANCE ABUSE
As with all of the counseling services, treatment begins with referral and assessment. The assessment is provided by Chugachmiut staff and forwarded to the treatment provider.

TOBACCO PREVENTION
The Tobacco Prevention and Control Program is designed to increase the awareness of tobacco and its effects.
