Chugachmiut Youth Summit - June 15, 2023


The Chugachmiut Youth Summit is coming up on July 17-21, 2023 in Anchorage! Youth will gain valuable knowledge and have fun.

The application deadline is June 30, 2023.

Youth attending this Summit will be empowered by:

  • First, sustaining knowledge, experience and practice of Sugpiaq language, traditional culture through Elders, recognized experts, through games, crafts, media, models, art, sea life, and plants in an urban setting.
  • Second, utilizing the urban culture for modern transportation to Kincaid Park, to visit historical/cultural institutions, Kenai Fjords Visitor Center, Alaska Sealife Center, and Botanical Garden.

Youth applicable to apply:

  • Ages 13 to 17 years old (updated), Alaska Native, and living in Chugachmiut Supported villages:  Port Graham, Chenega, Tatitlek, Cordova, Seward, Nanwalek, and Valdez.
  • We are accepting up to 35 applicants.

Please submit an Accessing Choices in Education (ACE) application form for each youth participating if not completed one before.  Please note – if you have submitted one for your youth for another camp, please add this camp to the previous application and resend it to ACE@chugachmiut.org.

Llangarlluni: Becoming Aware

Our vision is to revitalize the traditional Chugach Native culture and language. The goal is to make Sugpiaq/ Eyak history and heritage a part of the regular school curriculum with support and direction from our Elders’ traditional ecological knowledge (TEK).
