Chugachmiut is pleased to announce that Dr. Bill Cooper is back with us as medical director. Dr. Cooper oversees the practice of our providers as primary collaborative, heads up quality assurance, chart audits and represents us with clinical directors, weekly medical meetings, trainings and frequent patient consultations.

Dr. Cooper has lived and worked on the Kenai Peninsula for more than 30 years. Originally from South Carolina, the grandeur of Alaska captured his heart. Dr. Cooper was the first emergency medicine specialist at Soldotna’s Central Peninsula Hospital, which he retired from in 2009. He has continued medical practice as the medical director for most of the many EMS agencies across the Kenai Peninsula. Currently he is the medical director for the Paramedic Program at Kenai Peninsula College.

Dr. Cooper states “It is with great pride that I return to Chugachmiut to help the many wonderful people as they address their challenges in medical care. It is a wonderful opportunity to help the community health aides and mid-level practitioners in their work.”
