Alaska Health Shield is a traveling health outreach group that visits rural Alaskan communities on a regular basis.
The shield consists of health providers from the U.S. Army and Alaska National Guard. Visiting providers, all military, will include a field surgeon, five mid-level providers, two dentists and several medics.
The events will include health screenings, consultations, educational information and community potlucks. Providers will document all of their screening results and patient consults and forward those to village health staff.
The Health Shield will be in Tatitlek on March 24 and Chenega Bay March 26. For more information call the local health clinics or the Chugachmiut North Star Clinic at 1-800-224-3076.
